The New Jewish Climate Movement: A Call to Action
Saturday, January 22, at Shabbat Service
Guest Speaker: Rabbi Shoshana Meira Friedman

Dayenu: A Jewish Call to Climate Action is a national organization building a dynamic, multi-generational movement of American Jews courageously confronting the climate crisis with spiritual audacity and bold political action.

Rabbi Shoshana Meira Friedman, Director of Professional Development at Hebrew College, serves as a rabbinic ambassador for Dayenu. Dayenu, launched in April 2020, is a movement of American Jews who care deeply about equity and justice in our world and about the future we create for our children and future generations. Drawing from our Jewish tradition, experience and faith, we have the power to create real and lasting change.

Rabbi Friedman’s writings have been published in various venues. She and her husband, Yotam Schachter, wrote the song “The Tide Is Rising,” which has spread as an anthem in the climate movement.

Join us for this timely and inspiring talk on the intersection of the climate crisis and Jewish social justice values. This presentation was organized by the Adult Educational Committee, and is co-sponsored by the Advocacy Committee, The Social Action Committee, the Women of Reform Judaism of Temple Emanu-El, and Terra Cultura.

You may join the service that morning on the Temple’s livestream or register and come in person. Rabbi Friedman’s talk will follow the Torah service, and will be available on Zoom from the Sanctuary or from home. The Zoom link will be provided in the Temple’s weekly email.
