Israel Trips

Adventure in Israel
June 19-30, 2022

Dear Temple Emanu-El Community,

Traveling to Israel is one of the most transformative experiences one can have in their Jewish lives.  The opportunity to see the Western Wall, eat in the Jerusalem shuk, see Independence Hall, and float on the Dead Sea is truly priceless.  I am so looking forward to the opportunity to travel with you, the members of our community, and to learn and experience together.

As you know, we are planning for a Temple Emanu-El family and first timers trip to Israel this June (the 19th to the 30th).  We had hoped that we would be mostly out of the COVID pandemic by that point and that travel would be more feasible.  The Omicron variant and the dramatic rise in cases around the world in the past month has made the situation more unpredictable.  While it may be the case that Omicron will flash out by the time we are traveling in June, the unfortunate situation we are in is that decisions about whether to go on the trip have to happen in the next few weeks, when cases are highest.

To help us with our decision making about whether to travel, I have asked and received permission from Keshet, our travel company, to postpone final decision making until February.  They have encouraged anyone who might be interested in the trip to register on the website, but that they can put off paying a deposit until February.  If you are interested in coming on the June trip, please let me know by February 1st and register on the website by then (https://www.keshetisrael.co.il/3698).  If there is not critical mass for a trip by February 1st, I will make the decision to postpone the trip, so if there is a chance you want to come, please let me know by then.

Wishing you a very happy new year!

Rabbi Benj
