Get your dreidels ready, and your fry pans hot… it’s time for a Hanukkah Hootenanny and Pot-Latke Cook-Off!
Join us for the Shabbat Hanukkah service on December 7, and stick around for a musical and delicious celebration with Hanukkah songs and a pot luck of latkes. What could be better?
We will begin by lighting the outdoor hanukiyyah before the service. After the service, we’ll nosh on latkes and sufganiot (jelly donuts). Bring your best latkes on an oven safe tray to put in the Temple oven to heat, along with your recipes to share with the congregation. We will provide the sour cream and apple sauce. Prizes will be awarded to whoever brings the most latkes and the most creative latkes.
For planning purposes, please contact the Temple office at (619) 286-2555 if you will enter the bakeoff! There is no charge for the event.
Bring your singing voice and any instrument you’d like to play to join with Marshall Voit and the Shabbat Band to sing all the Hanukkah songs we know and love (and maybe some new ones, too)! Lyrics for the hootenanny will be projected for all to see. Marshall will provide chords and/or notated sheet music for any instrumentalists.
Come celebrate the Festival of Lights in scrumptious musical style with our Temple Emanu-El family!
