Community Jewish High
A partnership between Temple Emanu-El and Tifereth Israel Synagogue, Community Jewish High (CJH) welcomes students in grades 8 – 12. Students affiliated elsewhere, or not affiliated with any congregation, are also welcomed.
We strive to create a community of Jewish teens who learn together and who learn about one another—who will forge connections that will extend beyond the confines of our classrooms.
Our Tuesday evening gatherings include sharing a meal in an informal setting and classes that offer a “little something for everyone”. They include hands-on learning, intellectually stimulating debates, exploring how to answer our most difficult questions and dilemmas and some guidance in life-skills, such as choosing the right college and how to maintain Jewish connections on campus.

Non-discriminatory Policy for CJH
The Community Jewish High admits students of any race, color, national origin, ethnic origin and sexual orientation to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, ethnic origin or sexual orientation in administration of its educational policies, admission policies, scholarship and loan programs, and other school-administered programs.
Social Justice
There is also a hands-on social justice component to our program.
Our tradition teaches each of us to lend a hand in tikkun olam, in repairing the world. All Jewish students in grades 8-12, whether synagogue members or not, are welcome.
Tikkun olam (Hebrew: תִּיקּוּן עוֹלָם, lit. ’repairing of the world’) is a concept in Judaism, which refers to various forms of action intended to repair and improve the world.
