We are a group of women who have found friendship and sisterhood among other Reform Jewish Women across the generations. We foster the highest ideals of Reform Judaism through social and educational programs serving our Temple and community.
Member dues help support our programs and projects but your involvement and participation are vital to the success of everything we hope to accomplish. We are “Sisters by Choice!”
Without you we are one woman short!
WRJ Sisterhood invites the entire congregation to our very first
Multi Generational Tu B’shevat Seder
Tuesday, January 30 • 6 pm
We will begin promptly at 6 pm, and expect to conclude about 7:30 pm so that children of school age may attend.
Tu B’shevat (the 15th day of the month of Shevat), the New Year for the trees, dates back to Talmudic times. It was designated as the time of renewal of budding in the trees. It is one of four “New Years” of the Jewish calendar. It is a time to share the yield of the land with the poor. Accordingly, on Tu B’shevat, God decides how bountiful the fruits of the trees will be in the coming year. For Kabbalists, trees were symbolic as the Tree of Life.
Today, we celebrate Tu B’shevat for the renewal of our commitment to serve and protect the trees and all of God’s creations. (Source: Haggadah from Sisterhood of Temple Bat Yahm)
The cost of the evening is $10 per person, or $18 per family, and includes drinks, food and a haggadah which you may keep.
Please RSVP by January 15th to Rhonda Schwartz at email@example.com or call her at (619) 563-9459.
