Martin Luther King Day

This remarkable virtual event will bring together people of different faiths and cultural backgrounds for a wonderful morning of community building, education, and camaraderie. As a community, we will learn from Sonja Robinson, the first Chair of the Environmental and Climate Justice Committee (ECJ) with NAACP San Diego and NAACP North San Diego County. Sonja has an internet talk radio show, S.U.N (Sustainable Urban Network) addressing environmental justice. The featured speaker will be John Brooks is from Oakland, California and is a retired Special Agent with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Office of Law Enforcement. He also worked as a Wildlife Refuge Manager, Wildlife Inspector, Computer Forensic Specialist, and Augmented United States Air Marshall. John now works is in the conservation field, as a climate advocate with the San Diego based organization, Climate Con.

This esteemed panel will weave together the importance of the intersection between Martin Luther King’s mission of justice and the impact of environmental and climate justice on a local and city-wide scale today.
